Tailings Monitoring monitors geotechnical and hydrological conditions, such as displacement and other structural stability factors, at open pit mines and tailings dams.Tailings ponds are an important part of the safety production of non-coal mines and one of the major hazards in this field.Once an accident occurs, it will cause huge losses to the lives and property safety of downstream people, cause serious pollution to the local environment, and have serious negative impacts on local economic development and social stability.Therefore, the State Administration for Work Safety issued the "Notice on the Installation of Online Monitoring System of Tailings Ponds" in 2013, requiring all tailings Ponds or above to establish online monitoring systems by the end of 2013.Fourth-class tailings ponds are encouraged to install online monitoring systems.
